COOKtheSTORY: Homemade Recipes for Real Life
Hello! Welcome to COOKtheSTORY!
I’m Christine Pittman and the recipes on this site are ones that I love. I hope you love them too! Below is a bit about my personally. If you’d like to see my press page or contact me about an interview, please head over here.
My cooking experience began when I was very young. My mom and her mom (my Ukrainian Baba) were always cooking and I was always in the kitchen with them watching and listening.
Then when I was 11, my parents opened their first restaurant. It was the Perogy Patch and Deli in Lockport, Manitoba, Canada. I worked there in the kitchen on weekends and during winter and summer vacations for years. It was there that I started to learn about testing and developing recipes. My mom made everything from scratch and she perfected each item before it ever was served to a customer. It was a science to get those recipes perfect, and to write them out in such a way that they could be replicated over and over again.
My parents had several restaurants after that. At one point, I think they were running 3 or 4 at the same time! It was hectic but amazing to be surrounded by food and food talk all the time.
I went away for college and was studying Linguistics, which is pretty far flung from my food roots. But after graduation I moved to Florida, and it was here that I rediscovered my love of developing recipes. With that love, in 2010 I launched COOKtheSTORY.
I will say that there was a steep learning curve. It took me a couple of years to really get the recipe testing and development down pat (and because of that, you might notice that there aren’t that many recipes from the early days on this site…if the recipes aren’t good enough for my current standards, I delete them. I don’t want you using your time and $$ on something that is anything short of delicious!).
Now, 10 years later, COOKtheSTORY has over a million visitors per month, and I have another site with nearly that many visitors too. My other site is TheCookful.com and you should definitely check that out too! I also have two podcasts, a short daily show called Recipe of the Day, and Time Management Insider, a show for busy people who love to cook.
The other major thing that I’ve done is to write cookbooks. The newest one, and one that I am most proud of, is The All New Chicken Cookbook: 200+ Chicken Recipes for the Air Fryer, Electric Pressure Cooker, Slow Cooker, and More! This book is your complete chicken resource. It has all the basics for cooking chicken on the stove and in the oven, as well as everything you need to make delicious chicken using the newest technology in today’s kitchens. You’re going to love it so much!
I take recipe development and creating good food very seriously and I work really hard at it. For that reason, my recipes have appeared in many print and online publications from Newsweek to Woman’s Day, and so many more.
After 10 years of being in this industry, I know it pretty well. The number one thing that I’ve learned is that it’s you, the readers of this site, who are the most important thing. I love when you comment on recipes and let me know how you liked them. I love hearing from you by email about things you’d like me to create. And, I really love helping other busy cooks, like you, to figure out how to fit delicious food into your hectic life.
Thank you so much for visiting, reading, and making my recipes. I am so honored and grateful for your time.
